Sanwo-Olu
Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has clarified speculation regarding the conduct of Local Government Elections in the state, stating that elections will hold in all the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of State this year.
The Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila had, in a viral video, said elections would only hold in the 20 LGAs in the state.
Speaking, however, today during a live interview with TVC Breakfast Show, Governor Sanwo-Olu said “elections will hold in all the 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs of the state this year.”
The Governor said the elections will hold once the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) completes arrangements being firmed up to conduct the LG poll.
He also said the state government is fully compliant with the Local Government autonomy.
