In his renewed effort to bolster Grassroot sport and engage Lagos State Youths productively, the Leader Of Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area, Hon. Olakunle Williams has concluded plans to get the Ball rolling with Community Soccer.

The Grassroot soccer starts on Monday 10 March, 2025 and run till 29 March, 2025 with knock out stages until the winners emerge.

The sporting event is the third in its Series. It holds annually in the month of Ramadan.

Citizen NewsNG reports that all the Communities in the Council Area and across Lagos state will participate in the competition.

According to the Sponsor of
the football match competition, it is designed to improve physical and mental health, reignite unity and community Bond among the Youths.

Continuing, he said: “it is to promote a healthy competition and nurture young footballers who aspire to choose football as a profession”.

Citizen NewsNG gathered further that the previous editions witnessed lage participations across the State.

Mushin Football Club emerged the overall Best at the Year 2024 Competition while Itafaji Community Football Team won in 2023.

The First-Place Winner will receive
Two Hundred Thousand Naira(N200,000), Second-Place: One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira(N150,000) while the Third-Place Winner gets One Hundred Thousand Naira(N100,000)

In addition, the Fourth-Place to Tenth-Place Winners would be gifted Consolation Prizes.
