The Federal Government has announced that Thursday, May 1, 2025, will be observed as a public holiday in commemoration of this year’s Workers’ Day Celebration.
Reaffirming the importance of peace in fostering industrialisation and driving economic progress, the government emphasized its commitment to national development.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.
Tunji-Ojo praised Nigerian workers for their dedication and sacrifices, stating that their contributions play a significant role in the nation’s progress and the respect Nigeria commands globally.

“There is dignity in labour; the dedication and commitment to the work we do is vital to nation-building,” the minister said.
He encouraged workers to embrace innovation and boost productivity, stressing the need to elevate standards in their respective professions to enhance governance and ensure that all Nigerians benefit from the country’s resources.
“This Administration is fully committed to the security of life and property of every citizen and foreigners in the country,” he assured the citizens.
“While wishing workers a happy celebration, the Honourable Minister urged Nigerians to keep hope alive as the present administration of President Bola Tinubu is committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda he has promised,” he added.
