The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has assured political stakeholders of a free, fair, and transparent local government election slated for July 12, 2025.

Chairman Mobolanle Okikiola-Ighile gave the assurance during a stakeholder meeting with political party representatives, pledging neutrality and urging parties to adhere to the election timetable.

She disclosed that nomination forms would be available at LASIEC headquarters, with women candidates paying 50% of processing fees. Official guidelines will be released April 17, with campaigns permitted from April 18 to July 9.

Some parties raised concerns over limited consultation, legal interpretations, and the commission’s revised mandate to oversee elections in all 57 LGs and LCDAs. LASIEC promised improved engagement moving forward.
