Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage, has opened up about her love life, revealing that at 44, she has never experienced true love except from her son, Jamil.

In a candid interview with British media personality Zeze Mills, the multiple hitmaker said that looking back at her past relationships and even her marriage, she realised they were built on infatuation rather than genuine love.

“I don’t think I’ve experienced true love apart from my son. Every time I look back at all my relationships, I’m like, nah, that wasn’t love. I was just infatuated. At that time, I thought I was in love. I don’t think I experienced true love even when I was married,” she said.

Savage admitted that after repeatedly trying and failing to find true love, she now believes it might not be meant for her in this lifetime.

“Maybe love isn’t for me because I have tried over and over again, so maybe love isn’t for me this lifetime,” she added.

The singer, who is currently enjoying praise for her new track “On the Low” with Skepta, also shared that she finds it difficult to accept compliments and that many people underestimate how challenging dating can be.

Tiwa Savage was married to her former manager, Tunji Balogun, popularly known as Teebillz, from 2013 until their divorce in 2018. The union produced their only child, Jamil, whom Savage describes as the purest source of love in her life.
