Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has found herself at the center of a social media storm after a fake “wanted” notice bearing her name went viral.
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has now stepped in to debunk the claims, dismissing the poster as false and misleading.
The notice, which alleged that Ojo was wanted by the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit, quickly spread across platforms, sparking speculation among fans.
However, the NPF has firmly clarified that the document never originated from the Force.
In a statement shared on its official Facebook page, the police tagged the viral material as “FAKE NEWS” and urged the public to disregard it entirely.
“This ‘WANTED’ poster of actress Iyabo Ojo did not emanate from the Nigeria Police Force. It is false, misleading and was never posted on any official NPF platform. Disregard and stop spreading fake news,” the statement read.
The NPF also stressed the importance of verifying reports only through its official communication channels, warning that fake news not only misleads the public but can also damage reputations.
As the dust settles, fans of Iyabo Ojo are breathing a sigh of relief, while the actress remains unfazed by the false alarm.
