The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of popular comic actor, Bamidele Tope Saint, widely known by his stage name Okemesi.
Okemesi reportedly died on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, after spending a few hours in a coma at a hospital where he was receiving treatment.
According to reports, the actor suffered complications linked to drugs administered during his treatment, which allegedly led to his condition deteriorating before he was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
The news of his passing was announced in an emotional video shared on Instagram by fellow actor Tony Montana Jeff.
“With a heavy heart, I’m announcing to the world that Okemesi is dead. The doctor pronounced him dead this morning, February 24, 2026. Okemesi is gone,” Tony Montana Jeff said.
Speaking on behalf of the family, he added, “On behalf of the entire Bamidele family, I’m announcing to the world that Oluwatope Bamidele Saint Okemesi is dead. We have taken the body to the morgue. I will communicate the rest of the arrangements to you guys. We appreciate every one of you who turned up for him. May God forgive Okemesi and rest his soul.”
Okemesi was widely known for his comic roles and vibrant screen presence, earning him a loyal fan base across Nigeria’s film industry. His sudden death has sparked an outpouring of grief from colleagues, fans, and industry stakeholders who have begun sharing tributes online.
