The Lagos State High Court has concluded hearings for the trial of Chidimma Ojukwu, the alleged killer of Super TV boss Usifo Ataga. During the Wednesday sitting, the court cross-examined Chidimma Ojukwu’s elder sister, Chioma Egbuchu, who gave testimony in court the previous Monday.
She was asked questions by Chidimma’s lawyer, Onwuka Egwu, the lawyer to Adedapo Quadri, the second defendant, Babatunde Busari, and by M.A. Abiabasi, the lawyer to the elder sister. After the questions, Justice Yetunde Adesanya ruled that all parties involved should file their final addresses within 21 days each and, after that, the parties have 7 days to respond to the addresses.
She fixed September 24 for the adoption of final addresses. After that day, the judge will fix a judgment day.
Under Nigerian law, she has a 90-day period to prepare for the judgment. This means judgment can happen before the end of the year 2026. Chidimma Ojukwu and the second defendant, Adedapo Quadri, have been in prison since 2021 when the incident happened, while her elder sister comes to court from home as she is under bail.
