Ibrahim Shekarau, the former governor of Kano, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Shekarau announced his defection to the APC on Sunday at his residence in Kano.
Shekerau served as Kano governor from 2003 to 2011 under the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).
In 2014, he joined the PDP after his former party — ANPP — merged to become the APC.
In 2018, the former Kano governor resigned from the PDP to join the APC.
In May 2022, Shekarau left the APC for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) after months of leadership tussle with Abdullahi Ganduje, former governor of Kano.
In August 2022, Shekarau decamped from NNPP to the PDP.
