President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House in Abuja.
The meeting, initially scheduled for 4pm at the council chamber, commenced around 5pm after it was moved to the conference room of the president’s office.
Governors in attendance include Babagana Zulum (Borno), Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Peter Mbah (Enugu), and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), among others.
Some states are represented by their deputy governors.
As of the time of this report, the agenda of the meeting was not made public.
The meeting came after Tinubu held an emergency closed-door session with the leadership of the senate on Wednesday.
Speaking after the meeting, Opeyemi Bamidele, senate majority leader, said “far-reaching decisions” were taken on matters of urgent national importance.
He added that the decisions followed a resolution reached during an earlier closed executive session of the senate.
