A 25-year-old fashion designer arrested by the Ogun state police command has confessed to staging fake bandit attack videos on TikTok in a bid for online fame.

Kowiu Oloyede, the suspect, admitted during an interrogation that he fabricated the clips, hoping to attract followers and become popular like streamer Habeeb ‘Peller’ Hamzat.

Speaking in Yoruba, Oloyede told Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Ogun police spokesperson, that he launched his TikTok account in January 2026 to promote his fashion business, but things took a different turn when he came across a trending “bandit-themed audio” on the platform.
