The Saudi Arabia ministry of health and the public health authority (Weqaya) says it has launched a health awareness guide in eight languages for the “1447 AH hajj season” to prevent exhaustion and heatstroke during pilgrimage season.
The awareness guide was published in Arabic, English, French, Urdu, Persian, Indonesian, Turkish and Malay for pilgrims from different countries.
A statement on Wednesday by the health authorities said the guide aligns with the health sector transformation programme under Saudi Vision 2030.
The health authorities said the guideline is aimed at supporting pilgrims through all stages of their health journey, beginning with pre-hajj preparations.
The Saudi ministry of health and the public health authority explained that the guide contains extensive information.
It said the guide provides detailed guidance on limiting the spread of respiratory infections in crowded environments, alongside first aid instructions to help pilgrims respond to emergencies before accessing medical care.
The authorities said the guide includes specialised advice for priority groups, with recommendations on managing health conditions.
It is also aimed at reducing complications and ensuring stability while performing religious rites.
The authorities said the document also contains food safety guidelines aimed at preventing foodborne illnesses among pilgrims.
Saudi Arabia added that efforts would continue to expand awareness content and encourage preventive behaviour at improving pilgrims’ health preparedness and supporting safer pilgrimage conditions.
The guide is available online through the ministry of health’s website.
