A community activist from Mahikeng Province in South Africa, who appeared in a heated, viral video telling foreign shop owners to shut down their business and leave the country, has been reportedly shot dead.
The man, identified as Thato Molosankwe, was killed at his own house. Reports say he was shot five times. However, it could not be confirmed whether the attack was carried out by a lone gunman or not. The attack happened just days after a video of him went viral across social media.
In that video, Molosankwe was seen confronting Somali shop owners. He told them in clear terms to close their shops “before Friday”. He said they had no right to trade in the area and must vacate the premises immediately.
The video spread quickly and sparked strong reactions from different sides. Some people backed his message. Others called it intimidation and hate speech
