Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has issued a stern warning to commissioners and political advisers in his administration, urging them to justify the confidence reposed in them through effective service delivery and a strong commitment to governance.
The governor’s warning was contained in a statement issued on Friday by his spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Speaking during the Hawan Nasarawa Sallah homage in Kano, Yusuf stressed that his administration would not tolerate negligence, poor performance, or a lack of commitment from any appointee, emphasising that accountability and measurable results remain at the heart of his government’s policies.
He called on members of the State Executive Council and political aides to rededicate themselves to serving the people and supporting the administration’s development agenda.
According to the governor, any appointee who fails to meet expectations should either improve their performance or be prepared to leave office.
Yusuf, however, singled out the Kano State Commissioner for Environment, Dr Dahir Hashim, for special commendation, describing him as an innovative and hardworking leader despite being the youngest commissioner in the cabinet.
The governor praised Hashim’s commitment, creativity, and outstanding performance, particularly in promoting government activities and strengthening communication between the administration and the public.
He reiterated that his administration remains committed to recognising and rewarding dedication, competence, and excellence in public service while maintaining high standards of accountability among government officials.
