The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has commenced an investigation into a suspected culpable homicide following the death of a heavily pregnant woman, identified as Alice, after a physical altercation with another woman, Grace Kasimu.
According to preliminary findings, the incident occurred on May 31. Police sources disclosed that Alice reportedly developed serious complications after the confrontation and subsequently began bleeding.
She was rushed to Wuse General Hospital for medical attention but was later confirmed dead by healthcare personnel.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, said the suspect, Grace Kasimu, has been arrested and is currently in police custody.
Adeh stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and establish any criminal liability.
She added that the Commissioner of Police has directed that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a comprehensive investigation and further necessary action.
The police urged members of the public to remain calm and allow investigators to conclude their work, assuring that justice would be pursued in accordance with the law.
