A woman identified as Joy has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command for allegedly abducting two infants to present at a church dedication after losing her own newborn twins.

According to police, Joy deceived two young mothers — one 14 and the other 18 — and took their babies under false pretenses. She planned to pass them off as her own during a church ceremony meant to dedicate her late twins.

The abductions came to light after an investigation, during which Joy confessed to taking the children. Both babies have since been recovered and reunited with their mothers.

The Delta State Police Command confirmed the arrest and said the case remains under investigation, with charges expected to follow.

The incident has sparked outrage across Delta State, with many calling for stronger protections for teenage and young mothers.
