Senator representing Osun East, Francis Fadahunsi, has criticised Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, saying the governor is not fit to continue in office and accusing his administration of lacking meaningful achievements.

Fadahunsi, who spoke during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, on Tuesday, said he had supported Adeleke in the past but now believed a change in leadership was necessary.

Asked what had gone wrong between him and Adeleke, whom he previously described as an ally, Fadahunsi said his decision to support Adeleke was based on the belief that he understood what was required of him as governor.

“If there was an error of judgement in choosing a leader, automatically, you have to change. Where have I gone wrong? We brought him; we thought he knew what he would do, other than for him to be dancing and deceiving people. Is that a governor?

“Go and see all his antecedents and what he has done. There is nothing there, except those people who are really enjoying him,” the senator said.

Fadahunsi claimed Adeleke was being controlled by others and said he would not conceal his opposition to the governor’s administration.

“He is just like a robot, AI, being controlled by all of them. I don’t hide my feelings. He is not fit to be there,” he said.

The senator also claimed that several people previously associated with Adeleke were now moving towards his political camp because, according to him, they had become dissatisfied with the governor’s administration.

“Every day, we collect all his people to join us, because they have seen that there is emptiness in that place. Everything is Ede. If my own district is poorly funded and is poorly empowered, automatically Senator Fadahunsi will leave that empty barrel that is me,” he said.

Denies ‘Killer Squad’ Allegation

Fadahunsi also denied allegations that he had established a group of armed men or a “killer squad” at a hotel in Osogbo to target members of the Accord Party and other opposition groups.

The allegation followed a viral video circulating on social media which purportedly showed the senator making comments interpreted as a call for violence against political opponents.

Asked about the alleged group and why he would establish one, Fadahunsi rejected the claim.

“Which group? How will I rent somebody’s house and make it a terrorist house? I didn’t make my house in the village; I didn’t make my house in the town. Have I ever killed anybody? Where is the killer squad?” he asked.

He denied calling for the killing of political opponents, stressing that he opposed political violence and intimidation.

“I did not say they should be killed. Whether Accord or PDP or APC, they are all my constituents; they are all my members. They know what they are doing.

“I don’t preach violence, but when it is hot, I will tell them, ‘Enough of killing.’ He should leave my people alone,” the Osun senator said.

Responding to questions about the viral video, Fadahunsi described it as a manipulated recording and accused political opponents of trying to portray him as supporting violence.

The controversy comes ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.

The election is expected to be keenly contested, with Adeleke seeking another term and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, among the leading challengers.

The campaign has been marked by heightened political tensions and allegations of violence, intimidation and inflammatory rhetoric, prompting increased security preparations ahead of the poll.

Security agencies have deployed more than 25,000 personnel for the election, while the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says preparations for the poll are on course.
