A Nigerian woman identified as Uzoma has been promoted to the rank of captain in the United States Army.
Uzoma announced the achievement in a post on X on Sunday, expressing gratitude to God for the journey that led to her latest military rank.
“Today, I proudly wear the rank of CAPTAIN. The journey has been nothing short of a blessing, and I’m deeply grateful to God for every opportunity that has brought me to this moment. 🙏🎖️🪖🇺🇸Captain #Blessed #USArmy”
The promotion comes a few months after Uzoma revealed that she had been promoted to the rank of sergeant in March 2026.
At the time, she celebrated the achievement by writing:
“Got promoted to Sergeant today. Grateful to God for the journey, the lesson , and challenges that led to this moment. Proud to wear these stripes.🙏🎖️🇺🇸”
Her latest achievement also comes two months after Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu announced his enlistment into the United States Army.
Momodu described joining the US Army as the fulfilment of a personal ambition and a tribute to his late father, who served in the Nigeria Police Force.
The actor shared the announcement in an Instagram post on Friday, where he spoke about the physical and emotional demands of his military training.
He said the experience tested his resilience, with months of intensive training and periods of isolation.
“From inception, I have always believed in achievements earned through merit, which is why I constantly push myself beyond limits.
“This particular one was forged through tears, fear of failure, resilience, endless days, short nights, fatigue, rain, and the scorching sun,” he wrote.
