Veteran Nigerian Juju and Highlife musician Saint Janet, born Iyun Janet Ajilore, has died on Saturday, August 1, 2026, following a brief illness. She passed away from complications related to diabetes.

Popularly called “Mama Yabis,” Saint Janet was celebrated for her vibrant live performances, energetic stage presence, and iconic contributions to Nigerian music. As CEO of Saint Bottles Cathedral, she built a legacy that extended beyond the stage into community and culture.

Her death marks the end of an era for Juju and Highlife music. Fans and colleagues remember her for the joy, energy, and authenticity she brought to every performance.
