The Nigeria Police Force has approved the dismissal of four police officers attached to the Ikeja area of Lagos State after they were tried in an orderly room for offences including extortion, corrupt practices, unlawful exercise of authority and discreditable conduct.

The disciplinary action was contained in a police wireless message dated September 3, 2026, issued by the Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), Ikeja, and marked “Immediate.”

The officers listed in the message are Inspector Omosebi Emmanuel (AP/No. 330764), Inspector Arishekola Oluwatobi (AP/No. 332153), Sergeant Olawunmi Michael (Force No. 509744) and Sergeant Ajibade Adegbenga (Force No. 509962).

According to the police communication, the four officers were subjected to orderly room proceedings over allegations of “extortion/corrupt practices,” “unlawful exercise of authority” and “discreditable conduct.”

The offences were stated to be contrary to Paragraph C(iv) and (vi) of the First Schedule of the Police Act and Regulations, Cap 370, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2020.

The wireless message referenced a letter numbered CH:6350/LS/DFA/SPM/VOL.11/240, dated July 27, 2026, concerning the disciplinary proceedings against the officers.

The police said the orderly room proceedings were subsequently reviewed by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos.

Following the review, the punishment of dismissal from the Nigeria Police Force was approved for the four officers.

The directive ordered the Area Commander, Area ‘P’, to arrest the affected officers, retrieve their warrant cards and ensure that they were removed from the police barracks if they were quartered there.

The Police Pay Office (PayPol) was also directed to stop the officers’ salaries and emoluments forthwith, delete their names from the payroll and amend the relevant records.

The message further directed the relevant PayPol offices and Chief Finance Officers (CFOs) to ensure compliance with the directive.

“Stop their salary/emolument forthwith, delete their names from payroll and amend your record,” the police communication stated.

The directive was circulated to several police formations and departments, including the Nigeria Police Force administration in Abuja, AIG Zone 2, Lagos, the Store, Provost Force Abuja, Commissioners of Police in all states, IPPIS, State Intelligence Operations (SOI), State Intelligence Section (S2), Provost Police Ikeja, and other relevant formations.

The Area ‘P’ command was specifically instructed to carry out the arrest and recovery of the officers’ warrant cards, while the relevant authorities were directed to ensure that the dismissed officers no longer received police salaries or emoluments.

The police ordered all concerned formations to acknowledge receipt of the communication and comply with the directives, describing the matter as “very important.”
