The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has commenced the disbursement of student loans for the 2026/2027 academic session, urging eligible students to complete their registration before the December 1, 2026 deadline.
NELFUND disclosed that registration for the 2026/2027 student loan programme commenced on September 23, 2026, and will close on December 1.
It further advised students who are yet to finalize their applications to visit its official portal and ensure that all required information and supporting documents are correctly uploaded.
It urged applicants to submit their applications promptly to facilitate smooth processing and avoid possible delays associated with last-minute traffic on the registration platform.
The Fund also encouraged students who have already started their applications to review their submissions and confirm that all details are accurate before the deadline.
The student loan scheme is designed to provide financial assistance to eligible Nigerian students pursuing higher education, particularly by supporting the payment of institutional fees.
Prospective applicants can access the application portal through https://nelf.gov.ng
The program further added that if students peradventure experience difficulty with updating their account details, it can be reset.
“If you are experiencing bank or account profile issues, you can now reset your details on the portal,” NELFUND cleared.
“Please note that you have only two attempts for the 2026 academic session, so double-check your information and correct it promptly to avoid future payment delays,” it concluded.
Students have been advised to complete their registration early rather than wait until the final day. NELFUND recommended that students be mindful of the December 1st deadline and ensure that all documents are submitted before then.
