LAGOS PROMISES TO STRENGTHEN COLLABORATION WITH FOREIGN EMBASSIES

The Honourable Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Elegushi has promised to enhance the collaboration between the Lagos State Government and foreign embassies in the country, especially the Italian Embassy, to ensure that Christian Pilgrims to have a seamless pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

Prince Elegushi, who made this known on Thursday during his working visit to the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (CPWB) in Ikeja, noted that it has become worrisome to the State Government when Pilgrims are denied visas, assuring that refusal of visas, especially to Rome, would soon become a thing of the past.

Elegushi commended the staff and management of the Board for a job well done in organising hitch-free pilgrimage exercise to the holy land in view of the numerical increase in the numbers of pilgrims airlifted yearly.

While imploring the Board to put in more efforts to increase patronage, he assured members of staff that adequate support and compensation will be granted to committed individuals by the government.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Mrs Adebunmi Adekanye thanked the Commissioner for the visit and encouragement, pledging that the Board is ready to build a successful working relationship with him.

Earlier, the Secretary of Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (LSCPWB), Mrs. Florence Gbafe explained the duties, activities and challenges of the Agency to the Commissioner, assuring him of the Board’s readiness to align with his  for the institution.
