In celebration of Nigeria’s 60th Independence anniversary and continuous efforts to cushion the effect of COVID-19 pandemic on residents, the Lagos State Government, through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, distributed food items to the aged and residents of four communities in Lagos.
Speaking during the presentation of the food items to the beneficiaries, Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Folasade Jaji, said the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration is mindful of the situation in the country, which necessitated the distribution of another round of food items to economically disadvantaged residents.
She told the beneficiaries that the gesture was made possible by the present administration, in collaboration with several private sector donors, to reduce the effect of the pandemic on the people, saying “These materials are not just from the government alone. We also have the support of the private sector in order to ensure that the citizens do not suffer during the current pandemic period”.
The Baale, Okegun-Odofin in lbeju-Lekki, Chief Ajibola Ogunkoya and his counterparts in other communities praised the government and the donors for the kind gesture, noting that the people are very happy that the Lagos State government showed concern for the aged and poor during the independence anniversary celebration.
Some of the communities visited by the team led by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs. Folashade Jaji, included Okegun-Odofin in lbeju-Lekki; Otto, Lagos Mainland Local Government; Egan, Alimosho Local Government and ljeododo, Ojo Local Government.
