ARMED ROBBERY GANG ATTACK BANK IN DELTA, POLICE RECOVER VEHICLES, AK47 RIFLE

A Gang of heavily Armed Men on Tuesday, 30th March attacked a Commercial Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA) at Issele-Uku and the Divisional Police Headquarters in the Town simultaneously.

Based on the report made by the Residents, the state Commissioner of police Delta State CP Ari Muhammed Ali, FCIA, Psc+ quickly mobilized his Officers from the State Police Headquarters led by the DC Operations, DCP Olaleye Faleye to the scene of the crime.

Reports says the Gunmen denoted an explosive believed to be dynamites to blow off the automated security doors in order to gain access into the Banking Hall. In. a Gallantry display, the Police Officers engaged the suspected Armed robbers in Gun duel.

According to a Press Release issued by the Acting State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright, an undisclosed amount of money was carted away. Unable to match the Superior Gunfire exchange of the security operatives, the criminals sped off in two vehicles while the Police Team chased them but abandoned their vehicles and escaped into the bush.

However, an Inspector of Police, Anioma Security Watch vigilante Member, an unidentified civilian and one of the Armed robbery gang died during the robbery operation.

“The two vehicles used for the robbery attack were recovered some distance away from the crime scene. Also retrieved was one(1) AK 47 rifle breech No. 9558 with empty magazine painted with Police colour”, the statement partly read.

The Delta State Police command appeals to the members of the public to provide useful information that will lead to the arrest of the fleeing armed robbery suspects.
