The Lagos State Government has initiated traffic diversions to facilitate the installation of crucial components on the pedestrian bridge at Ikeja Along.

This was according to a statement by Commissioner for Transportation, Lagos State, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, released on Friday.

Osiyemi emphasised the significance of pedestrian safety, especially for those accessing the Lagos Rail Mass Transit, Red Line.

“The Lagos State Government will divert traffic at PWD inwards ‘Ile Zik’ axis of the Lagos Abeokuta Expressway, on Saturday, March 23, and Sunday, March 24, between 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. each day,” he stated.

The announcement also outlined alternative routes for motorists during the designated hours. Traffic from Abule Egba to Oshodi will be redirected to Agege Motor Road by ‘Ile Zik’ to Akanni Doherty road and Oba Akran Avenue, continuing to Kodesoh to access the Airport Ramp to Bolade/Oshodi.

Conversely, traffic heading to Dopemu/Abule Egba from Bolade/Oshodi will be diverted to Works Road by PWD inwards Oba Akinjobi Way to access the newly constructed Ikeja Overpass, continuing inwards Agege Motor Road.

Furthermore, Osiyemi addressed the rehabilitation of Asolo Bridge in the Ikorodu axis, noting partial closure from Mile 12 to Ogolonto starting March 23. During the first phase, motorists heading to Ogolonto/Ikorodu Garage from Ketu will be diverted into the BRT Corridor from Orita Aje Bus stop and will exit the lane at Mechanic Workshop.

For the second phase, Ikorodu-bound motorists from Ketu/Mile 12 axis will maintain the service lane, with BRT Buses diverted to the service lane by Ajegunle exit.

Osiyemi urged motorists to cooperate and exercise patience during the diversions, reassuring the deployment of necessary measures including traffic management officials and road signage to mitigate inconveniences.
