On February 10, 2025, Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, a final-year student at Kwara State College of Education, vanished while attending a naming ceremony in Ilorin. After receiving a call from a friend she met on Facebook, she abruptly left the event.
Her worried family and friends launched a search, but to no avail. Her parents reported her disappearance to the Oja Oba Police Station, prompting an investigation. The police tracked her last call to a suspect in the Ofa Garage area.
Initially, the suspect denied involvement but later confessed that Hafsoh died from an asthma attack at his residence. However, a gruesome discovery revealed her dismembered body hidden in a bowl, along with dismemberment tools.
The suspect, said to be the son of a prominent cleric, is in custody at the Kwara State Police Headquarters.
Evidence suggests this may not be his first offense, as tools used for dismemberment were found in his home.
Investigation are ongoing.
