Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has just announced a game-changing policy: starting in 2026, house and land agents will be banned from operating in Ebonyi State.

The Governor revealed that this decision comes after numerous complaints about agents taking advantage of residents with outrageous fees — sometimes as high as ₦500,000 — for properties they don’t even own!

From next year onward, agents won’t be allowed to charge any fees from those looking for a place to live, as the government aims to tackle rising rents and safeguard everyday citizens.
