The insecurity crisis in Kwara State has deepened as a heartbroken woman has cried out after Fulani herdsmen allegedly killed her husband and his brother in Oke-Ode, Ifelodun Local Government Area.
The grieving widow recounted that her husband was on his way home when armed herdsmen attacked and killed him alongside his brother.
Her painful story comes just days after 12 hunters and vigilantes, including the Baale of Ogbayo, were massacred during another violent attack in the same community, fueling fears that Oke-Ode has been taken over by criminal herdsmen.
“This insecurity has turned me into a widow overnight. My husband only went out and never returned. They killed him and his brother without mercy,” she lamented.
Residents and victims’ families have accused Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of abandoning the people in the face of escalating violence, warning that if urgent action is not taken, Kwara could soon be “emptied” of its residents.
Community leaders are demanding immediate Federal intervention, including the deployment of soldiers and special security forces, to restore peace and rescue villagers from continued kidnappings and killings.
Fear and displacement continue to spread across Ifelodun and neighboring LGAs, with many families abandoning their homes in search of safety.
