Nigerian music promoter, Ijoba Danku, has alleged that he was assaulted in Lagos, claiming the attack was linked to his open support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Danku, who is known in Nigeria’s street-hop music scene for promoting emerging artistes, said the incident occurred on Friday around Illeshu, near the popular New Afrika Shrine.
Speaking from his hospital bed in a video shared on social media, he rejected claims that the attack was a random robbery or street altercation, insisting it was politically motivated.
“I was attacked yesterday on the streets of Illeshu by some boys just because I am supporting APC, Asiwaju 2027,” he said, referring to Tinubu’s anticipated bid for a second term.
“They wounded me and damaged my car.”
As of the time of filing this report, authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident, and the circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear.
