The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said that 3,748,704 new voters completed their registrations nationwide within 14 weeks of the second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
Announcing the conclusion of the second phase, the commission said the figure comprises online pre-registrations and in-person completions at designated centres.
An INEC bulletin released Friday showed that 2,259,288 registrants completed their registration through the online pre-registration portal, while 1,489,416 finalised it physically. The figures are still subject to further verification.
“With the conclusion of the registration phase, INEC has now shifted focus to the display of the register of voters for claims and objections, a critical stage in ensuring the accuracy and credibility of the voter register,” the commission stated.
INEC said the display exercise will hold at designated centres nationwide from April 20 to 26, giving citizens an opportunity to verify their details and raise objections where necessary.
The commission urged those who registered during the second phase to use the window to confirm their information and help identify ineligible entries, including duplicates, deceased persons, and non-citizens.
INEC began the first phase of the suspended CVR exercise on August 18, 2025, and ended it on December 10 that same year. The second phase ran from January 5 to April 17, 2026.
The third phase is expected to commence on May 4 and run until August 17, 2026, to allow eligible Nigerians who have yet to register to do so.
The display of the register for claims and objections will hold from August 24 to 30.
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a clean and credible voter register, which it called the bedrock for free, fair, and transparent elections
