In a vibrant showcase of unity and workplace culture, JMG Limited and Jamara Home, in collaboration with its branches of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) and the Steel and Engineering Workers’ Union of Nigeria (SEWUN), recently hosted the maiden edition of their Staff Sporting Festival, an initiative designed to strengthen bonds, boost morale, and bring employees together beyond the workplace.
More than just a series of games, the festival created a shared experience where connection took center stage. Through activities such as football, chess, board games, and other recreational activities, employees engaged in friendly competition while building meaningful relationships across teams and functions.
Staff were grouped into four teams, each bringing energy, enthusiasm, and a strong sense of camaraderie to the event. The atmosphere was lively, collaborative, and filled with moments that reflected the true spirit of teamwork.
Participants described the festival as both refreshing and rewarding, highlighting the importance of stepping away from routine to reconnect, recharge, and engage with colleagues in a more relaxed setting. Many also expressed appreciation to management and the organizing unions for creating a platform that prioritizes employee wellbeing and inclusion.
Speaking on the initiative, Chief Commercial Officer, Rabi Jammal, emphasized the deeper value of the experience: “This is more than a competition, it is about connection, shared energy, and the spirit everyone brought to the day. I am proud of how each team showed up. These are the moments that strengthen not just our teams, but our entire organisation.” He also shared a light moment, celebrating his team’s win.
The Chief Human Resources Officer, Gloria Ibeziako was especially ecstatic about staff turn out at the event, commenting thus: “At the heart of every strong organization are strong relationships. Events like this reinforce teamwork, boost morale, and remind us that our people are our greatest assets.”
The success of the festival highlights the shared commitment of JMG Limited and Jamara Home, in promoting a culture where people feel valued, connected, and inspired. It reflects a clear belief that strong organisations are built on strong relationships.
