A 33-year-old woman, Olaide Adekunle, has reportedly sold her baby in Lagos in a desperate attempt to clear a ₦600,000 loan.

Reports say Olaide, who resides in Sango, Ogun State, traveled to Lagos with her baby girl, Mordiat Rasak, on March 15. However, she later returned home without the child, raising suspicion. Her husband alerted authorities, prompting an investigation.

She was eventually arrested and confessed to selling the baby to repay a debt owed to a microfinance bank. The case has now been handed over for further investigation, with efforts underway to trace and safely recover the child.
