The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), on Tuesday, suspended a centre referee, Yakubu Adamu, for poor officiating in the Enugu Rangers and Bendel Insurance match.
The announcement was made via the NPFL official X handle, which stated how Adamu’s actions affected the outcome of the match.
“Mr Adamu is sanctioned for his decision to award a penalty during the Rangers vs Bendel Insurance match, which is not in line with the provisions of the law of the game.
“The referee’s action did not only result in a goal but also affected the outcome of the match & brought the game into disrepute,” the statement reads.
Rangers won the matchday 37 encounter 2-1 to maintain top spot on the NPFL table.
