Championship Ring
The winners of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will receive championship rings for the first time in the tournament’s history, in addition to lifting the famous FIFA World Cup Trophy and receiving gold medals.
FIFA announced the World Cup championship rings initiative on Thursday ahead of Sunday’s final between Spain and Argentina at the New York New Jersey Stadium, describing the rings as a new tradition inspired by championship celebrations in American sports.
The world football governing body said the World Cup championship rings would mark “a momentous first for a FIFA competition” and would become part of the legacy of the biggest World Cup ever staged.
“In a momentous first for a FIFA competition, the tournament winners will also receive bespoke championship rings, bringing one of the most recognisable American sporting traditions to the global game,” FIFA said.
Limited-edition commemorative rings
FIFA said a total of 2,026 individually numbered rings will be produced to commemorate the tournament.
Thirty rings will be reserved for members of the World Cup-winning team, while the remaining 1,996 will be made available to supporters worldwide as an official licensed collectable.
According to FIFA, each ring will be individually numbered, custom-fitted and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
One side of the ring will feature the FIFA World Cup Trophy, while the opposite side will be personalised to reflect the identity of the winning nation.
Temporary presentation after the final
FIFA said the captain and head coach of the victorious team will receive temporary championship rings immediately after Sunday’s final to mark the achievement.
The permanent rings will later be customised for each recipient before being officially presented to the champions to ensure an individual fit.
The introduction of championship rings is another milestone for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the first edition to feature 48 teams and 104 matches across the United States, Canada and Mexico. The tournament concludes on Sunday, July 19, at the New York New Jersey Stadium.
Spain will be aiming to win their second FIFA World Cup title after their 2010 triumph, while Argentina are chasing a fourth World Cup crown after reaching a second consecutive World Cup final.
