The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment has distanced itself from a purported employment and recruitment exercise being circulated online, warning Nigerians that the advertisement is fraudulent and has no connection whatsoever with the Ministry.
The ministry, in a disclaimer signed by its Head of Press and Public Relations, Annah Daniel, said it was not in partnership with an organisation identified as National Reading Culture (NRC) Ltd., contrary to claims contained in the widely circulated recruitment notice.
Daniel described the claims of a partnership between the ministry and NRC Ltd. as “false, misleading and a scam intended to deceive unsuspecting members of the public”, stressing that the Ministry neither authorised nor endorsed the publication of the purported employment opportunity.
“The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment wishes to inform the general public that it is not in partnership with the organisation identified as ‘NRC LTD’ regarding any employment or recruitment exercise being circulated on social media and other online platforms,” the statement said.
It added: “The Ministry did not authorise, endorse, or participate in the publication of the purported employment opportunity. The claims are false, misleading, and constitute a scam intended to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.”
The ministry urged Nigerians to disregard the advertisement and cautioned job seekers against falling victim to fraudsters by submitting applications, paying money, or releasing sensitive personal and financial information in response to the fake recruitment exercise.
“Members of the public are strongly advised not to apply, make any payments, or disclose personal or financial information in response to such fraudulent advertisements or messages,” the statement warned.
The ministry further advised the public to rely solely on its official communication channels for authentic information on employment initiatives, recruitment exercises and other government programmes.
It also called on anyone with useful information that could lead to the arrest of those behind the fraudulent scheme to report the matter to relevant law enforcement and cybersecurity agencies for investigation and prosecution.
Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding Nigerians from fraudulent activities, the ministry thanked members of the public for their vigilance and cooperation, while urging job seekers to remain cautious and verify employment information before taking any action.
