Two serving members of the Nigerian Army have been arrested over their suspected participation in an unauthorised deployment at the lavish wedding of popular content creator Habeeb Hamzat (Peller) and TikTok personality Jarvis, SaharaReporters reports.

Military insiders told SaharaReporters on Tuesday evening that tips indicated soldiers had been used illegally at the celebrity wedding in Lekki, Lagos, held over the weekend.

A senior military source said the arrests were carried out on Tuesday morning as probes into the matter began.

The detained personnel are 23NA/85/10007 Pte Onasanya Ifeoluwa of the 81 Division Medical Services and Hospital (81DMSH) and 23NA/85/7885 Pte Ukpai Onyinyechi, who is also posted to 81DMSH in Obalende, Lagos.

In a statement relayed by the source: “Following credible intelligence on the involvement of Nigerian Army personnel in illegal deployment during popular social influencer’s wedding known as Peller at Lekki, Lagos, the Group arrested 23NA/85/10007 PTE Onasanya Ifeoluwa of 81 Division Medical Services and Hospital (81DMSH) and 23NA/85/7885 PTE Ukpai Onyinyechi of 81DMSH at Obalende this morning.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing to establish the extent of their involvement and identify other personnel connected with the incident. Further details will be forwarded as the investigation unfolds.”

The arrests were prompted by videos from the high-profile ceremony that showed uniformed military personnel providing security for some celebrities and guests.

One clip that drew intense attention allegedly depicted a soldier working as a bouncer for TikTok influencer Ivanna while escorting her through the packed venue.

The footage generated widespread criticism online, with many questioning the presence of military personnel at a private social event for influencers and celebrities.

The wedding, held in Lekki, featured numerous entertainers and content creators and produced viral videos of the large crowds in attendance.

What started as a widely talked-about celebrity celebration soon became controversial after clips surfaced of men in military uniform managing entry to parts of the venue and accompanying certain attendees.

The Nigerian Army has repeatedly emphasized that serving personnel are forbidden from performing unauthorised private security duties or engaging in illegal deployments without official sanction.
