The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old woman, Hauwa’u Haruna, over the alleged killing of her co-wife, Jamila Adamu, during a domestic dispute in Bauchi.

The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday at Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate, Bauchi.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, September 28, 2026.

According to Habib, the suspect allegedly attacked Jamila with a pestle during the domestic dispute, striking her on the forehead.

The police spokesperson said the suspect was allegedly acting under hallucinations at the time of the incident.

“Upon receiving information about the domestic incident, detectives attached to the C-Division immediately mobilised to the scene,” the statement said.

The victim was subsequently rushed to the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, where a medical doctor reportedly certified her dead.

Following the incident, police officers arrested Hauwa’u and recovered the pestle allegedly used in the attack.

The command said investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
