A chilling story of how a 400-level student of Lagos State University, Favour Seun Daley-Oladel was killed by her Boyfriend, Owolabi Adeeko who was also a student of LASU.

In December, 2019, the story broke out of how Favour left her Mowe, Ogun state home to Ikoyi-ile, Osun state where her boyfriend, Owolabi Adeeko invited her to come and meet his family members.

Before setting out for this journey, Favour believed she was going to meet her boyfriend’s family as he promised, but she probably did not know that it was going to be a journey of no return for her.

Favour agreed, left Mowe and travelled to Ikoyi-Ile, but she did not make it back as according to evidence presented to court, Owolabi first took Favour in a black Honda car to Fortress Hotel somewhere in ikoyi île where she was allegedly drugged and finally taken to a white garment church operated by a man, Prophet Philip Segun.

Prosecutor said right inside the church Favour was killed, her body cut open and parts of her body taken out for money rituals, while her remains was buried in a shallow grave within the church premises.
After Favour disappeared, investigators began tracking her phone.

A police investigator told the court that the IMEI number of her phone was tracked to Ikoyi-Ile. That intelligence eventually led the police to the suspects.

Owolabi Adeeko, his mother Bola Adeeko, and Prophet Philip Segun were arrested and brought before the court.

In January 2020, the three were remanded over alleged murder, At that stage, they were accused persons, not convicted criminals.

The case continued for years, then, in 2023, everything changed.

The prosecution called nine witnesses, including the investigating police officer, and tendered several exhibits before the court.

Among tendered exhibits were confessional statements, where Owolabi Adeeko admitted inviting Favour to an undisclosed location before taking her to a hotel where she was drugged.
And later that evening Owolabi and his mother, Mrs. Adeeko lured her to prophet Segun’s place, introduced later as an uncle.

Owolabi futher stated that by the time they got to prophet Segun’s place she was already tired, the three of them simply put favour under the tree close to an uncompleted well dug for that purpose, and inside that well favour’s mutilated body was dumped.

Owolabi admitted that he used pestle to smash Favour’s head while prophet Segun admitted that he used sharp knife to cut her throat.

Prophet Segun also admitted in his statement that he cut her open, removed her heart and certain parts of her body to cook concoction for Mrs. Adeeko and she admitted eating the said native stew called(Aseje) so that her family misfortunes could change and become rich.

After hearing the evidence, Justice Christiana Obadina of the Osun State High Court in Ikire found Owolabi Adeeko and Prophet Philip Segun guilty of conspiracy and murder.

The court ruled that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

Both men were sentenced to death by hanging for murder.

Owolabi’s mother, Bola Adeeko, was also convicted for consuming human flesh and was sentenced to two years in prison.
