The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has released the list of aspirants cleared and disqualified ahead of the party’s primaries for the 2027 general elections.
According to the party, 33 aspirants were cleared to participate in the primaries, while 65 others failed to scale through the screening process.
Notably, all 32 aspirants believed to be loyal to Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, were disqualified from the exercise.
Meanwhile, incumbent members of the Rivers State House of Assembly aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, were cleared by the screening committee.
The development further underscores the deepening political rift between the camps of Fubara and Wike within the state’s political landscape.
In a statement issued by the APC State Publicity Secretary, Chibike Ikenga, aspirants who purchased House of Assembly Expression of Interest and Nomination forms were advised to check their screening status on the notice board at the party’s state secretariat located at No. 268B Aba Road, Port Harcourt.
Ikenga also directed aggrieved aspirants to submit appeals through the party secretariat.

According to him, the appeal process will take place on Tuesday, May 12, by 10 a.m. at the APC state secretariat.
The screening committee, in its report, cited several reasons for the disqualification of affected aspirants.
These include nominations by persons who are not financially up-to-date members of the party, contrary to Article 9.3 of the APC Constitution, inducement and attempted bribery of committee members, submission of unsworn affidavits, failure to present voter cards, and failure to provide party membership slips or cards.
Other reasons listed were conflicting dates of birth, inability to confirm payment of membership dues by nominators, irregular party membership numbers, inconsistencies in names across submitted documents, and insufficient nominators falling short of the required three nominations per ward.
The committee also noted that some affidavits submitted failed to disclose material particulars relating to NECO certificates.
